The Manaslu Circuit (Round) Trek is among the less-traveled routes in Nepal to the Base Camp of the world's 8th highest peak, Manaslu (8,163m), in comparison to other popular treks of Annapurna Base Camp and Everest Base Camp. A beautiful route in the northern part of Gorkha District of Gandaki Province, Nepal, that is reached from a distance. The name ‘Manaslu' means ‘Mountain of the Spirit' in Sanskrit and is where one can enjoy some of the remarkable scenery of a number of sky-towering mountains, and the varied Hindu-Buddhist culture and lifestyle. The trek is no doubt a lavishly sensational walk along the Budi Gandaki River, and the extremely challenging Larkya La Pass (5125m), which is set high in the Himalayas, is a definite plus point of the trek. The trail is believed to be along the old salt trading route along the Budi Gandaki River. Apart from that, on the route, the trekkers can see more than 10 peaks over 6500m.
Best Seasons to Experience Manaslu Circuit
The best time to start this trip is during the autumn, around October-November, and Spring between March and May, cause the weather during such phases remains clear and mild.
Preparation and Training
At Larkya La, the air pressure is approximately 50% of sea level, and the last pass will take 8-10 hours in one push and requires both stamina and patience. It's best to begin 2-3 months in advance and focus on cardiovascular endurance and leg strengthening activities: long hikes with a loaded pack, stair climbing, running, and lower body strength training. The teahouses are not as readily available on Everest or Annapurna routes, nor are there as many facilities for evacuation, so a realistic evaluation of fitness is even more critical than on the more developed routes.

Safety and Support
However, there are three true challenges that can be faced along the Manaslu Circuit: altitude, Terrain, and Remoteness, and Larkya La Pass represents the confluence of all three! It's a long trail; cold nights can set in fast, especially in the early morning or late season, and, due to reduced oxygen levels, altitude sickness can develop. This is where a slow and well-paced tour schedule with ample acclimatization days is not an option; it is a must. The path is very little developed as compared to the Everest and Annapurna, so if someone falls sick or gets injured, it will take a considerable amount of time to set up evacuation and support, making it safe to say that the trail is very isolated; thus, having a trained guide for the entire trek is legally required. Guides keep a close eye out for the signs of altitude sickness, headache, nausea, or unusual tiredness and will be ready to alter the pace or descend if symptoms occur, as it is the small details that make the day or the day will be a major emergency this far away from help.
Our local guide team, who are well experienced and knowledgeable about the area all year round, helps with this hike, and this team will also help with the limited area permits, pacing, and pass day arrangements so that you can enjoy the trail and the surrounding mountains.
